As sad as it was to leave the Finnmarken, TT had us set up to stay in a Rorbu, a traditional Norwegian fishing hut in the Lofoten town of Reine. This photo was taken from our Rorbu. And you already know who is in the canoe!
This is what the front of a Rorbu looks like. They are always this same color red. Somewhere along the line, there must have been a terrific salesperson with a whole lot of red paint. It is pretty much the official color of the Rorbu - and there are a lot of Rorbu in northern Norway.
It is a beautiful spot. Here TT catches quite a unique "art shot" at the Reine sea wall during sunset. As much as they look like props, those boots were not ours, and were there when we arrived.
The next morning, Lyell and I set off to fish. He had been looking forward to fishing since before we left Switzerland.
And Reine did not disappoint. Lyell caught his first fish just off the coast, we cleaned it - and below you see us eating it for dinner. It was tasty.
Nice work, big fella. |
