Then it was off to visit Astrid Lindgren Land. She is the author of Pippi Longstocking among other literary treasures. And she has built a whole complex with a campground. On our drive to the campground, it had rained, and the canoe had gotten filled up with water. Mason was more than pleased to be in a boat, on top of the car, with free authority to throw water out of it.
Once inside Astrid Lindgren Land, there was much to do. Here the boys try a hand-operated ferry where you pull yourself across a pond.
We got to see a production of one of the chapters in the Pippi Longstocking book, and then the kids were invited to visit Pippi's house.
And this is Mason from the porch of Pippi's house (the Villa Villekula)!
And Pippi himself! Er - something is not quite right here.
They had a whole town of miniature sized outdoor houses, so small Lyell had to duck to get inside. I didn't even try.
This must have been from another Astrid Lindgren story we did not recognize. But can you recognize us?!
And of course the machinery. Though on display, this tractor looked pretty functional - even with a battery for starting. If we had stayed long enough, Lyell would have figured out how to start it.
