Aurlandsvangen

We crossed on another ferry...

And had to make a decision as to whether to take the highway, or the mountain road.  Always take the mountain road.  We ended up on a high plain, in a chain of the most beautiful glacier-fed lakes.  I finally just had to stop and put in.  Probably the best canoeing I have ever had.

Then we all loaded up and paddled to a tiny island in the middle of the lake.  We are sure nobody has ever been on it.  No reasonable person would stop with a boat.  And even in the peak of summer, the water is just above freezing.  So we named the island "Read Boy Island" after who are sure are the first two humans ever to walk on it.

The whole thing was exhausting to Mason.  He slept, while we drove down the back side...

And stopped at the lookout.  Which is a bit wooden walkway with a slab of glass at the end.  Feels like you are floating way above the fjord.

One thing that surprised me was that we didn't see any sailboats.  This looks like really interesting cruising ground to me - but not to anyone else...
